Monday movies: how to film the earth from space

A homemade video today, but pretty amazing all the same. A Sheffield student I met in Windermere a couple of weeks ago told me about his friends and their homemade film of the earth from near space. Alex Baker and Chris Rose built the device using a camera, video camera, GPS tracker, meteorological balloon, parachute, helium, lots of foam, tape and string and a little heat pad (to keep everything working high up in the cold!). For less that £400 they produced this amazing footage:
